Trish developed an interest in design at an early age. Her mom, who loves to quilt and smock, took her on trips to local fabric stores. There, Trish developed her love for fabric, color and pattern.
After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Delaware, Trish relocated to Baltimore to work for McCormick & Co. She completed her Masters of Administrative Science from Johns Hopkins University, and met her husband, Mark, an engineer with Westinghouse.
The couple soon started their migration south, first relocating to Aiken, South Carolina and eventually Warner Robins, Ga. By this time, Trish and Mark had their family of three, Patrick, Sarah and Jake. Trish, then a stay-at-home Mom, began sewing window treatments and making slipcovers for friends and family. This in-home business eventually grew into a workroom for a local design shop. She then went on to work for the Design Gallery as an in house kitchen and bath designer, while continuing to run her own window treatment business.
In 2005, Mark and Trish decided to migrate just a little farther south to Elko, Ga, where they purchased an 1840's farmhouse. The proximity to Perry Ga, with its small town charm, was perfect. Cossart Design opened in Perry soon after. The business expanded to include custom furniture, accessories, art and lamps. Window treatments and custom bedding remained staples of the business.
In 2011, Trish moved her business into a smaller retail store at 915 Carroll Street in Perry, Ga. With this move, Cossart Design expanded again. While still maintaining and growing the core design business, the retail space has developed into a unique mix of all things design, plus lots of interesting gifts and jewelry. In 2015, Cossart Design moved across the street to it's current home at 924 Carroll Street. This move allowed Cossart Design to expand their retail area, as well as create space and organization for the growing number of clients.
Trish has been active in the Perry Community since moving to the area. In 2010, she completed Perry Leadership. She was Co-Chair of Perry Youth Leadership in 2010/2011. She has also served as Treasurer for the Board of Directors for the Houston County Career Academy. Previously, she has held the title of President for the Perry Downtown Merchants Association. She currently serves on the Main Street Design Committee for the City of Perry and is an active member within the Perry Downtown Merchants Association. .
Trish received the Business Woman of the Year Award for 2014 from the Perry Chamber of Commerce.
